About Us

Waqif began as a thought long before it became a brand.

Growing up in Jhansi, I learned that beauty doesn't announce itself. It exists in quiet strength, in history that lives through everyday life rather than spectacle. That groundedness shaped how I came to see clothing—not as decoration, but as something honest and deeply personal.

Traveling across India deepened this understanding. Rajasthan, especially, left its mark. Not the Rajasthan of tourism brochures, but the one where craft breathes in daily life. Bandhani tied in small workshops. Block-printed fabric drying under open sky. What struck me wasn't the artistry alone, but how naturally it belonged to people's lives. Craft wasn't luxury. It was worn, used, loved, repeated.

That ease became Waqif's foundation.
The name means aware—of origins, processes, choices. This awareness guides everything: which fabrics we choose, which artisans we work with, how we translate traditional techniques into contemporary silhouettes.
Waqif exists to let Indian textiles breathe beyond occasions and trends. To create everyday wear that carries heritage without costume. Pieces that move between work, travel, and private moments with equal grace. Modern in form, rooted in Indian soul.

We work closely with artisans, not to freeze tradition but to let it evolve. Every garment prioritises comfort, longevity, and meaning over volume.
Waqif is intention made wearable. Presence over performance. Awareness over excess.
Not just a brand, but a reflection of places and journeys—worn quietly, felt deeply.
